WELCOME HOME {major chris wingate}

Major Chris Wingate deployed with Task Force Spearhead to Europe in support of operation Atlantic resolve, working with NATO allies throughout the European theater to train and build on the partnership and to prevent Russian aggression in the region from as far North of Latvia to as far South as Romania and Turkey.  Major Wingate and 446 other soldiers from 3-227 Assault Helicopter Battalion (AHB) concluded their nine month tour in mid July as their family and friends welcomed home their soldiers back to Fort Hood, TX... and I had the absolute privilege and honor to document such an event.

I met Danielle through our Church a little over a year ago just before her husband deployed.  I never met Chris, but only heard great things.  I was able to grow an effortless friendship with Danielle and get to know their daughter that was born during her husbands deployment.  Thankfully he was able to come home for such a joyous event, but shortly after had to return to his duties.  When she asked if I would want to photograph their coming home reunion I was so excited for so many reason. I am a proud American who stands behind her troops.  I also have many friends and family members in the service and I have never been able to welcome those close to me home because of location differences, so it was an honor to be apart of this in such a special way.

The morning of their arrival, we met up with some of Chris & Danielle's family who decorated their home with "Welcome Home" signs and American flags.  We then headed off to base to welcome home their soldier.  Let me paint a picture for you... Flags, children waiting to see their mom and dads after 9 months, wives awaiting that first kiss home, mothers and fathers waiting to hug their children and friends awaiting to see their faces once again in person.  Talk about emotional!! We met on one of the larger fields at Fort Hood and they bused in 5 buses full of soldiers.  They had them exit on the opposite side from us.  Once they were all out, we chanted "Move that bus!! Move that bus!!" With victory music playing the soldiers were revealed and began marching towards us in unison, the crowd was flooded by tears (myself included).  I cant even imagine how those families were able to contain their bodies and not run towards the soldiers.  After a brief flag reveal and a thank you to the families, friends and soldiers who returned, we were allowed to "charge" our loved ones.  One by one families were meeting again, some for the first time.. in the case of Major Chris Wingate and his daughter, for the second time.  The Wingate family was reunited at last!

As an America Citizen, if you have not welcomed home a Soldier, I cannot encourage you enough to do so! It is the most rewarding, emotional and proud event I have ever been to.  Please remember to thank those who have served for your freedom, sacrificed themselves and their own families for yours.  God Bless America and Welcome Home Task Force Spearhead.

ADAM & JESSICA MCCURRY {wedding}

May 1, 2016: Adam & Jessica said their I Do's in the most adorable venue nestled down in Kyle, Tx.  Texas Old Town has multiple little venues within their property for multiple weddings to happen at once, but all still very secluded from each other.  Luckily we had the location all to ourselves to take advantage of every little piece of the property.

I met Adam and Jessica both at the Georgetown Bridal Fair I attending back in 2015.  They were such a sweet couple and I loved getting to know them more each and every time we met up. I couldn't wait to get them behind the camera and capture their special day along side them.  I was stunning.  We had been having some interesting weather building up to the big day... rain, thunder, lightning, flash floods... but we ended up with what we had been praying for and ended up getting all of the desired pictures we had talked about! The reception was inside this beautiful hall with log beams.

They met through Jessica's sister and brother-in-law back in 2011.  Adam is her brother-in-laws best friend.  They had briefly met when the two of them got engaged.  Later, her sister suggested she message Adam, that way they would be able to get to know each other a little more so it would be less awkward walking with him at their wedding.  {I see a little set up happening here} They talked every day since {see!} A few months later Adam flew up to Pennsylvania to visit Jessica, and the long distance relationship began.  Then, they got ENGAGED!! Once Jessica had finished her Bachelor Degree, Adam went out and got her and all her things and moved her to Texas {swoon}.

"Its been a wonderful journey and we are so excited to continue this journey as Husband and Wife"

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. McCurry!!!

SHANE& MAKENNA {engaged}

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of documenting a sweet couples engagement.  Shane is in the military on one end of the country and Makenna is located on another.  They have been long distance for almost a year! Shane's sister was helping set everything up.. I had never met the couple before so it was like waiting for a blind date.. Who are they? I had only a picture of the couple to go off of, but they were to adorable to miss, not to mention the tall beautiful blonde hair beauty, she was an easy spot.

It all took place in a Pecan Grove nestled in the back lots of Georgetown. I was waiting with my monster of a camera in my bag, just reading a book on a beautiful Texas day.  Shane and Makenna showed up and took a little walk through the grove, beautiful setting, then there is me, hoping behind trees hoping not to get spotted! Now, Shane knew I was there, so it wasnt a huge surprise to him seeing a stalker following them.  Moments later he dropped to his knee and asked her the beloved question "Will You Marry Me!" It was adorable! After many hugs and smooches, I was caught! Makenna was so surprised!

Some of their family was there to celebrate with them with an adorably decorated picnic table and champagne {POP}!! I was able to at this point get to know them a little better, and they are absolutely adorable.  Shane knew Makenna's older sister and saw her in the back of one of her pictures on Facebook.  He has messaged his friend saying "I didn't know you had a younger sister!" And Makenna's response when she was Facebook staling his page, after he friend requested her was "There is no way this guy is real, hes too cute!" lol.  I love the simplicity of their story and the love they share, and the fact they have distance between them in unnoticeable!

Cheers to the happy couple! Congratulations Shane & Makenna.

HELLO! NICE TO MEET YOU {confessions}

Hello Blog World!!!

Okay I know I have tried this once or twice, but THIS TIME.. I vow to you to give it my best efforts.  With this absolutely stunning new website of mine, with the amazing help of a wonderful friend, I am going to try and blog at minimum once a month! So.. I ask you this.. what are things you enjoy to read, how many pictures is too many pictures, what types of topics are your favorites?

For those of you who are visiting my site for the first time.. Welcome!! I hope you enjoy your time checking everything out! I am a born and raised California girl who couldn't get to Texas fast enough! I have officially been a resident of Texas for 2 years and I LOVE IT!! Yes I miss my beach access and predictable weather, but the quality of living, the people.. the FOOD!! I love it! I was blessed to relocate with a large herd and a company from California.  As I am new to the area, I still require a steady pay check, so I work full time as a Customer Care Rep in Georgetown.  Do not get discouraged, I have plenty of time for my photography and full support of my company for my dreams.  My parents, brother and sister in law also followed me here, and this blog littered with pictures of my nephew who we are expecting to welcome to the world any day now!

I have always had a passion to be creative and Photography was the first jump I took, and I just dove it.  I love all aspects of it: the people, the emotion and the creativity you get to pull out of yourself, you can never reach a limit of creativity.  I love being apart of your family, I hope you don't mind, but I love that I get to capture ones journey.  From the engaged couple, to the wedding vows to the soccer ball belly, and yearly pictures of your family, I truly hope to get to know you on a personal level rather than a business level.  I have a large family, many more are welcome!

BROOKS {looking back}

While cleaning out my hard drive a few weeks ago, I came across some of my old work done at Brooks Institute.  Some of the stuff I just laughed and thought, man I was lazy!! But then there were a few Gem's that stuck out to me, not because I want to praise myself, but I wanted to share some of the images I found because they were ones that I truly had FUN on while shooting, and I think it's where I learned a lot about myself as a photographer.

When I first set out to be a photographer, I had it set in my head that I wanted to do Sports Photography!! I wanted to be the one traveling about with those giant cameras and catch the once in a lifetime moments in sports.  I think I got this from pretty much growing up at the Oakland A's Stadium! Memories just flood my mind thinking about Sundays spent there after church, BBQ in the parking lot, then watching the game in my grandmas season ticketed seats, right behind home plate.. we were spoiled, I know!! But it is truly a memory I will cherish forever! Now a Giants fan, the A's will always have a special place in my heart!! (Anyways.... Sidetracked much?? I wanted to do Sports Photography.. I thought I knew it all then!!)After some realization that I loved the game, yes, but that I loved the fellowship part of it WAY more, shocking right!! ;) But I realized that, Sports photography just wasn't for me.  So I dabbled in some Fashion, some Stock and then winded up in People.  I had worked with a local bay area wedding photographer, Deanna Graham, for a few years before I had left for school, I did most of her office work, put together albums and just a lot of the back end stuff.  I never thought I wanted to do Wedding Photography. I thought to myself, this is just too much work!! 3 years later, I kinda wanted a break from school, missed home so I decided to do a full blown internship with Deanna.  I still had to turn in weekly work for school as well as work for Deanna.  During this internship period I photographed my first wedding, and I FELL IN LOVE!!! I loved everything about it!! I have always been that girl who dreams and is still dreaming of my wedding day, I just love weddings.. so for me to realize this LOVE for photographing weddings this late in the game was shocking to me.. but not to everyone else!! My family is so supportive that when I told them I knew what I wanted to do, I knew it was weddings.. They all looked at me like, FINALLY!! They would have supported me in any field I chose, but they wanted me to figure that out! And I am so thankful for that! Lots of hard work, but I found what I love!! So I am thankful for these pictures that I'm about to show you.. These grew me, stretched me and truly developed the photographer I am today!! Thank you to all the people who were on this journey with me!!
